Christmas is a time for indulgence, and what better way to indulge than with a rich, chocolatey dessert?

One home cook has been sharing a collection of sweet and savoury festive treats, including a show-stopping yule log recipe perfect for the Christmas Day dinner table.

The yule log, a classic French dessert known as Buche de Noel, typically consists of a sponge cake similar to a Swiss roll.

However, home cook Megan has put a twist on the traditional recipe by using brownie instead of cake in a recent TikTok post, reports SurreyLive.

To make it even more decadent, Megan adorned her yule log with various Cadbury chocolate treats, including Cadbury Milk Chocolate Spread, Flakes, and plenty of Dairy Milk.

Feel free to use your favourite chocolate instead.

Megan’s video has already racked up an impressive 200,600 views, with many praising her for the delicious recipe.

Ellie commented: “I need to do this with Chocolate orange.”

Michelle agreed, “That I’m going to have to make,” while Jake wrote, “Well doesn’t that just look amazing. Good job once again.”

If you’re looking for a chocolate centrepiece to impress your friends and family this Christmas, here’s what you’ll need.

Start by melting the butter and chocolate together in bursts in the microwave. Whisk together the eggs and sugar for a couple of minutes.

Fold the chocolate and butter mix into the egg mixture. Sieve in the flour and cocoa powder and fold gently

Pop in a lined tray and bake in the oven at 180°c for around 30 minutes – or until a toothpick comes out clean and not gooey. Megan used a 9”x9” tray.

Leave to cool and then slice/break apart and mix with a stand mixer or whisk to make a “dough”.Line a tray with cling film and press down the brownie mix and flatten as much as possible.

Add filling of choice over the brownie. Gently roll the brownie up. Leave to set in the fridge for a minimum of, but it can also be left overnight.

Melt around 300g of chocolate of choice in small bursts. Use a palette knife to create the ‘log’ look.
