FORSYTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) – With Christmas just 12 days away, one restaurant in Marquette County is working to ensure families in need have a happy holiday.

The Up North Lodge is once again hosting Operation Great Christmas, a free Christmas dinner open to the community.

You can also take advantage of the restaurant’s gift giveaway. On Christmas Eve, you can visit the Up North Lodge from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to pick out a few free gifts for your family. Since starting this program, organizers say they’ve seen the need continue to grow.

“When we started it, we helped about 300 of our friends here in Forsyth Township, and now we’re up into the 900s, so it’s one of those ‘give you goosebumps’ kind of events that is such an amazing event and a great way to be able to give back to the community,” said Jesie Melchiori, Operation Great Christmas Lead Elf.

Reservations are required to deliver the meal, but Melchiori says the event is open to anyone in the community.
