I tried searching but couldn’t find much on this, only one website offering it at $48. I found this at Trader Joe’s for $29.99 and snapped it up because I don’t usually see Ridge at this price point. It says only 70 barrels produced and bottled Aug 2024, anyone know anything about this? Is this drinkable right now? I don’t really have great cellar conditions to lay this down but I’d do my best if it’s not ready. Any insight would help, thanks.

I got excited and didn’t read the back of the bottle so I guess I answered my cellaring question but does anyone know any specifics about this wine?

  2. Nice! I also saw Ridge Three Valleys at my TJ’s today for $29.99.

  3. If it was bottles in August 2024, the vintage is more likely 2022, though it could maybe be 2021 or 2023. I’m sure the answer is a google search away.

That is a steal. Current vintages are up at $80ish. It’s probably pretty closed if it was bottled in 2024. What is the vintage? Only concern is 2020 Ridge cab may have some smoke taint, and possible explain the price.

I buy from Monte Bello and estate cabs from Ridge every year. The estate Cab is fantastic.

Edit: This looks like another cab I haven’t seen. Fredson? From Sonoma, hence the cheaper price . If young tho, I’d decant for a few hours. Irrespective, Ridge make excellent wine.

    I’m confused about the 2024…

Have you just bought a bottle of wine that is not even released yet? And won’t be for at least a year or two.

Ridge sometimes does some oddball things that aren’t made widely available. This is a non-vintage cab made with grapes grown in 2 different years in Sonoma County. It’s perfectly fine for the price ($36 if I recall correctly) but nothing near as good as their estate cab made with grapes grown at Monte Bello estate in the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA. Less time in barrel than usual for Ridge cab. For me, it’s more of a casual Wednesday wine than something I’d open for guests.

This is a non-vintage blend of grapes from their Sonoma vineyard as well as from Santa Cruz, which they never do for AVA reasons. The juices are also from two or three different vintages so again, non-vintage. Apparently there’s supposed to be some grapes from the Monte Bello vineyard as well, but how much and which vintage I don’t know. These were going for about $40 so picking it up for $30 is a nice deal. Can’t go wrong with Ridge but it’s an experimental blend so keep your expectations tempered and don’t take this as their typical style.

Dang… What Trader Joe’s was this? I need a case of it …

  9. Otsuka finding a way to get rid of excess juice by creating an experimental blending of vintages. Should be good!
