If you’re looking to serve the most-loved dessert at the end of your Thanksgiving dinner, you won’t have to stray too far from tradition; the winner of the Knox News poll for favorite Thanksgiving dessert – and the runner-up – are about as traditional as they come.
Seasonal staple pumpkin pie got the largest slice of votes by far, followed by pecan pie. Even a few write-in votes still skewed in the direction of variations on pumpkin, specifically pumpkin chiffon pie and pumpkin cheesecake.
Out of 14 choices, all but one had at least a few votes, though, so you might still have takers for alternate choices on the dessert table if you don’t hew strictly to the pumpkin-or-pecan mandate.
Here’s how the votes were dished out:
Apple pie, 8%Apple stack cake, 2%Banana pudding, 3%Carrot cake, 4%Cherry pie, 1%Chess pie, 1%Chocolate pie, 2%Peach cobbler, 0%Peanut butter pie, 1%Pecan pie, 28%Pumpkin pie, 42%Red velvet cake, 1%Spice cake, 1%Sweet potato pie, 4%
Other options earning a single write-in vote each were blackberry cobbler, candied yams, ice cream pie, mincemeat pie, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin chiffon pie and strawberry rhubarb pie.
