  1. Bleach in the soap side or sanitizer side? Chlorine is commonly used as a sanitizer in foodservice at small levels (100 ppm)

  2. heyyouyouguy

If anyone is putting knives in the sink then they can put their hands in there. Kitchen 101. That I always made sure of. I’d fire you because I can find another idiot.

  3. fuck everything about this. the knife hidden in the sink consistently would be enough for me.

  4. czarface404

You know you can use bleach to sanitize drinking water right? Obviously you don’t go drinking bleach but I think you’re grossly overestimating how dangerous bleach is when used correctly.

If you’re gonna stay, I’d focus on the actual important stuff. Whining about her not helping you put stuff away or pointing out mistakes she made makes you look a bit whiny.

Milk can freeze, bleach is used as a sanitizer

  7. Frailgift

Haha, as someone who has endured what can only be described as torture from chlorine gas. respectfully, tell her to fuck off before she hospitalizes someone with her advice.

Edit: fr though. I’m much more worried about her mixing chemicals.

  8. AParticularThing

something like 2800 people die annually from chlorine gas because they mixed bleach with something other than water, it’s not a joke

  9. flagellat-ey

Damn, commenting so I can check for updates later. This shit’s wild.

  10. Italian_Suicide1365

I would approach it like “hey (you’ll never get me but nice try) I noticed the knife has been all over the place someone is definitely gonna hurt themselves

  11. professionallurking1

Bleach blisters sounds like a workplace injury. Better get that checked out at the urgent care. Make sure they fill out the paperwork for their OSHA reportable injury as well.

  12. CalibanRamsay

Just make sure to dull that knife as much as humanly possible next time you find it.
Just really go for it and dull any edges it might have.
Also never accept anyone preparing your station for you.

The supervisor should be reported for negligence.

  14. twice_divorced_69

It’s the “not me; it’s someone else” for me. Love that shit so much.

  15. asterixmagic

I swear so many Childcare Supervisors treat Kitchen Coordinators like crap and then question why some leave less in a month.

  16. Theycallmeahmed_

Move the knife against a sharpening stone at 90°, dull tf out of her knife

Get another job, you stand no chance against her if her managers aren’t already wanting to fire her, this is the real advice unfortunately

  17. stereofeathers

What a deranged person to share a workplace with. This behavior is openly malicious and just plain mean. Wish you the best in this one op. I dont know about the legality of it where you are, but if she keeps playing the gaslighting “I never said that” game you might want to consider using some kind of recording device? Even just for your own piece of mind.

This is not worth your aggravation and possibly an injury to yourself, or a potential lawsuit from parents when their kids become ill (or worse) because of this person’s negligence.

Walk away. Find a different PT job.

And turn this place in to your local health department

  19. Trying to find a way to politely get the company to do something about her behavior as opposed to it just looking like your constantly complaining about her, maybe ask if they would give her Serv Safe training especially the managers course and also knife safety training. Ask if you may implement a Safety training program for all employees or if they have one already that everyone should get a refresher and do again. You are totally correct in her behavior is definitely a safety risk, just thinking if you pitch it to the company as you think training and a safety program is needed for all employees, you may get further with them in changing her behavior.

Tbh I worked as a daycare teacher and the state required us to wash toys in bleach water solution.

  21. 666truemetal666

I would have a hard time not swinging on someone who did that with a knife consistently….

  22. sirlafemme

    NEVER MIX CLEANERS.

NEVER PUT A KNIFE IN MURKEY WATER.

I always always put the knife to the side on top of the sink even, not in water. So they can NOT stab them elves wtf

EDIT: **selves obviously but due to the holiday spirit the typo shall remain 🎄

  23. sirlafemme

Washing isn’t for sanitizing I would faint. Three wells people. Soap wash. Rinse. Sani. It’s all you need

  24. sirlafemme

I straight up drain murky sinks the second I see it sorry about the water wastage but I’m not reaching in or feeling for shit

  25. jubejubes96

i haven’t worked in kitchens for years but i can’t stress enough how dangerous this is. i would chew them out or quit if they continue with this behavior.

i don’t want to make this about me but to emphasize my point:

i am recovering from an at-home cooking accident where the flexor tendon in my pinky was severed from a small cut at the right angle in the right spot. needed emergency surgery 4days ago and now am out of work for 12 weeks with my dominant hand in a splint and physio.

it was a small 3/16ths cut and took little more than my finger grazing a knife. that’s how easy it is.

  26. jamesholden

in my state daycares are inspected by the health dept, separate from a regular kitchen inspection.

call up the county health dept, ask for the person that does site visits for daycares.

  27. ascoolasyou67

No one should be mixing bleach with any chemicals. That’s very dangerous depending on the solution… I work for a certain chemical vendor

  28. geoffreyisagiraffe

Mixing chemicals and causing workplace chemical nurns/injuries from said chemistry experiment is lawsuit territory. If the manager doesn’t correct them you need to relay your concerns to ownership and let them know that your state and local regulatory agencies will be notified. And that’s the incredibly nice and undeserved way of doing things i would have immediately whistleblown the moment it happened and contacted an employment and/or litigation attorney after going to urgent care. You’re bending over backwards for someone that doesn’t care about you. This is SERIOUS shit.
