I have never seen a steak as unexciting as this. The second it gets placed on the table I know I’m stopping by in n out on the way home

If I was a guest in your house I’d eat it but I might kindly ask for some A1

Looks like it got boiled in milk then put on a grill for a few seconds to get the marks on. I’d eat it to be nice but I wouldn’t let her cook steak again

I was thinking “how the hell do you even manage to cook it like that”. Then I read about the panini press, I get it now.

  5. It is hard to achieve perfect uniform gray throughout 🙂

It looks like it was braised in milk and seared with a hot fork.

Looks exactly like the steak my MIL makes…

Imagine growing up with cooking like that? I’ll go ahead and take a guess that your wife never liked steak until she met you.

    > it’s the thought that counts.

Absolutely. Be grateful when someone you know puts in effort for a gift for you about something you love.

One holiday during my known drinking days, an in-law gave me a pack of real shit beer. I did my best to not be a snob about it, and just say thanks.

    MMM…boiled and seared…just how I like it. /s

  13. If your spouse is attached to their parents I would suggest getting a divorce immediately

  14. At this point, I’m not even upset. I’m just sad. Sad for you who had to eat this, sad for your MIL that thinks she did a great job and sad for the poor cow who had to give her life only to end up as the saddest steak that was ever served. Tragic situation all around.

If rhe phrase “unenthusiastic hand job” was turned into a food pic, this would be it.

  16. I’m just impressed she hit both well done and no crust.
