Just got this for my birthday. Never grilled in my life but always wanted to
Setup is pretty crazy going from a $20 camping gas grill to this. I’m doing the initial burn off but I’m not sure how to cook this chicken yet 😭 any tips or advice?

you will need to get a grill to grill. this will smoke some meat tho

Looks like a pellet smoker. Not really a grill per se but a great smoker for smoking all meats. I use mine for most everything from whole chickens, sausage, prime rib roast and of course the holy grail – brisket! Best tip is to buy a digital thermometer with probes that you can monitor as your meat cooks. Congratulations! 🥩

I hate to break it to you mate, but you aren’t grilling on that either. you are smoking. Sorry for bursting your bubble.
Unless you ARE grilling on it, in which case……why?
mikeisaphreek
You can grill on this too.

I also got one. Let’s climb the learning curve!! And don’t listen to those haters saying (not grilling there). Perhaps they need to relearn what the main chamber can be used for too.

Well you aren’t about to start grilling anyways. Better question have you smoked meat before? Lol

I have one the same and was also a newbie.
It’s great, like having an oven in your garden so alot less stressful than trashing your kitchen for a roast. The food it produces is incredible. I started with a pork shoulder for a taco night and it was heaven.
If you’ve got a smaller model and it’s cold where you are, just be weary it will burn through the pellets quicker when colder so make sure it gets filled.

This is a great one! PS1150Pro. It has an adjustable sear plate to grill and is incredible for long smokes! You’ll love it!

Congratulations. Don’t forget to do a burn off to remove all manufacture oils and dust that come with it as well. Get some warm soapy water and just give it a wipe down inside including the grates. Let it dry completely then set it to 275 and do your burnout for 2 to 3 hours. That way you can remove all residue and unpleasant flavors.

Primarily designed for smoking meats and cheeses, this pellet grill can be used as a BBQ too. Remember to use that cover and take it off now and then if the grill isn’t used for a while to prevent rusting.
Read up on its use, general grilling vs smoking, and you’ll be golden.
GRILL ON.

When I started I got the book Meathead: The Science of Great Barbecue and Grilling. Game changer. Also get a thermometer to use at grill level and temp probes for the meat. Your barbecue and grilling will be amazing.

Great choice. Absolutely love mine

You will love it! Congrats and enjoy your journey.

I have a Pit Boss, and it runs 50° cooler than it claims the actual temperature to be. It’s a linear offset, so 200° is 150°, and 350° is 300°. It’s a different control panel than yours, so YMMV.
Aside from that, it’s a solid smoker.

Grill/BBQ/smoke is all pretty easy/intuitive. Just stand by the fire with a beer in your hand pretending you know what’s happening.

Watch a lot of YouTube videos. Use thermometers in the grill and the meat.
Smoke wings at a higher temp, they’re easy first.
Smoke ribs second since they’re tasty and even not perfect ribs are still ribs.
Pork shoulder for pulled pork third
Do a brisket fourth (maybe just a flat or point to start).
You’ll figure out quickly how your grill works (regarding how to control fire or dial settings to hit 250 vs 325 and hold it there for hours) then you just have to work on a signature rub or sauce. Get an apron that says grill master. It doesn’t help anything, but it gives the vibe that you know what you’re doing.

Let us know how it goes! I’ve seen these around but not sure if they’re good or not

It would help to have a beer always cold and at the ready as well as a nice bluetooth speaker playing a playlist of Metallica and country music. Preferably 90s country. Also use pellets that are post oak or a post oak/mesquite blend. Have fun! You’re gonna love it!

There’s a learning curve. But if you’re passionate about it. There’s good things ahead

That’s like having a Camaro for your first car. Im jealous! Beautiful smoker. You’re gonna have some good eats in your future when you get that baby dialed in

Happy birthday and congrats. I got one from z grills on my birthday almost a year ago but I had been window shopping that pit boss brand. Hope you like it.

Dude, when I got my smoker it was life changing, well meal changing anyway. Lots of great recipes online and many smoking videos. First year I was smoking 3 times a week. Experimenting with various meats, pellets, rubs, and marinades, I found what I liked and got really good at timing the smoke. Good luck!

Place the hot grill on your hands 340 Degrees should blister if not wait 10 minutes then try again

You have a nearly foolproof smoker and a fair grill. The low and slow smoker will have difficulty reaching temps for grilling.
