My starter is from my sister’s starter, it I’m not actually sure how old it is since we got it from a sourdough baking class… but we’ve had it for almost 2 years!
Their name is Venti Fermenti 💞

  3. My best starter is Eleanor Swellanor. She’s about 3 now (but I’m not sentimental and I make new starter all the time).

  4. Heavy-Lemon1458

Me and Hoochie Mama have been making magic together for nearly 2 years!

  5. LilithEden

  7. crystalcorr

3-4 weeks old and her name is Betty Su

  8. UltraMegaFauna

  9. ThePeteVenkman

Gooey Looey. ~10 days old and I have no idea what I’m doing.

  10. awpickenz

My starter is a year old and I keep them in a jar that is too narrow so I mostly call them yousonofabitch.

  11. telperion868

Prune is 5 years old. She was born in Canada. She’s not picky about her food and drink: spelt, rye, atta, all purpose, water, beer, milk, yogurt and I think there was once some onion too.

  12. AngryBowels

Doughy Parton is 3 weeks old, I’m new to sourdough and am attempting it gluten free.

  13. SpaceJesus90

Charles Baxter III, he’s 4. Let’s hope I don’t drop him too lol

  14. Ararat-Dweller

Gertrude, she’s 3. She hibernates during the summer though and I wake her up in winter.

  15. Skinsunandrun

0 days old because I need to try to make her again for the third time today. I’m getting so frustrated!! Lol

    Yours is beautiful!

  16. everyday_em

Over two years old and her name is Georgina (like Darcy’s sister from Pride and Prejudice)

  17. radandbad

My starter’s name is Michaelangeldough and he is about 8 months old now!

  18. InksPenandPaper

I call the colony of bacteria and wild yeast *Burgie-Land* and it’s been ongoing for 3 years.

  19. blackjack1977

Råg-1. 4 years old. Råg is Swedish for Rye and is pronounced as “Rogue” and I made the starter with Swedish Rye flour. This was the first one I tried and I am a huge Star Wars fan 🙂

    Edit: pronunciation

  20. cold_drinks

About 10 months old. It’s just Ken.

  21. elleliz12

Mine is called Frankenstein. My husband said “what Frankenstein experiment are you doing now?” And the name just sorta stuck 😂 he’s only a month or so old.

  22. sherlockgirlypop

    The Man-dough-lorian. He’s only 17 days old!

  23. stelladavidson

Sybil is beautiful and a great name!

  24. BeerWench13TheOrig

Pennyrise (huge Stephen King fan here), Penny for short. She’s 1 year and 10 months old.

ETA: I have a backup starter named Olivia Gluten John aka Xanadough aka Vincent Van Dough.

  25. MoeSzyslakMonobrow

Bready Mercury is 5ish years old.

  26. Acastamphy

I let my wife name it. “Javier” is about 1 month old and made his first loaf last week. Not ideal sourdough yet, but it was a tasty loaf all the same.

  27. Valuable-Finding-735

Around 4 or 5 months, his name is Bob the Second.

  28. Woolybugger00

1847 – comes from a culture that is claimed sources back to around CA during the gold rush – (because this is Reddit: I’m sure its impossible to 100% authenticate, but I don’t care as it’s a very unique tasting culture that’s not fussy and I got it from a sourdough heritage project that I got ahold of and they sent me some)

  29. CombinationReady9376

Mine Is named My Starter! Lol I just fed My Starter. My starter should be ready to bake by noon. My Starter is over a year old. 🙂

  30. Winter_Asparagus_313

Eugene Levain is 2 yrs old.

  31. itchy-n0b0dy

Robert Doughey Jr., 4 years old
He’s a Jr because I got him from a friend.

  32. thisismyeagerface

5ish years, named Jesus because he keeps rising

  33. kbranni23

    Newer starter (4 months)

    Named Pan Solo

Sometimes I’ll take a bit of that and feed it different flours (rye / pumpernickel) then that one gets named Doughbacca
