I’m sure it was absolutely phenomenal… But I feel like that crust is really lacking. I’ve never cooked a steak like that though. So I may be way out of my range of expertise

  2. ThePracticalPenquin

Curious on the cost being that close. Few middle men out of the loop I imagine – looks great

Least it’s only 20mins drive to try again.

  4. drugclimber

Ive only had ground wagyu. Is it hard to eat a full steak that rich?

  5. 123wellington

I wonder if our steaks were from the same cow?

Too bad you boiled it… Salt Brine

If you’re so fortunate then get a better crust on that thing!

  8. Demand_Excellence

Next time treat it with more respect Goddamnit!

What the…this is super close to me. TIL.

Google says it’s temporarily closed. Is that true?

Just looked it up. Hour and 15 mins from me lol.

I know a lot of people will get you on the crust- however this is perfect for my taste so good job

Isn’t this what wagyu crust looks like in Japan? I see complaints, but pretty sure this is how it’s normally served.

Some people can’t comprehend a steak cooked differently than how social media says it’s supposed to be. Mindless idiots. Bet it was melt in your mouth. I’d squeeze some lemon and salt!

I’m not too far from there.. website doesn’t give too much details. How do I order and what was the cost of that steak?

  15. therealhlmencken

You’re supposed to butcher the meat not the cook. Looks solid not special.

  16. Impressive-Revenue94

You abused this beautiful steak man.

this thread should be pinned to show how little 90% of this sub knows about steaks. Op did this exactly how they wanted, and a way that’s very common for wagyu, as a heavy crust isn’t good for wagyu. Funny how everyone assumes a $10 steak should be prepared the same way as a $100 steak..

  18. Brandt lake in AB is best in the country. Nothing like Alberta beef

This sub proving they don’t know shit.
    Beautiful steak OP.

I think it looks tender, juicy and delicious, and I wish I had it in front of me right now. I’d devour it, and thank you!

  21. berniethecar

Nice one. A thick crust would ruin the delicacy in between.

  22. Hot take but wagyu is meh. Sure it’s high quality but it’s not worth it. In my opinion I’d rather have a nice dry aged solid steak over some “buttery fatty” steak.

Alright….we’re house swapping for the next 6 months.

  24. Psychokittens

That looks absolutely delicious. Jealous 😁

  25. vinegar_strokes68

But apparently, far away from any cast iron

  26. If its not in Japan, its not true wagyu. There, I said it.

  27. Casper_the_Ghost1776

Thought I was looking at a post from r/embroidery lmao

  28. Chance_Ad2944

It looks like wagyu. But not a top tear wagyu.

  29. Hi-Im-High

Best in North America? I get better wagyu 50 miles outside of Seattle.
