LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) – Hundreds of senior citizens and people with disabilities got the necessities to cook Christmas dinner Friday morning.
The Salvation Army packed bags with a whole chicken and sides. The food was free; people just needed to sign up.
Organizers said the giveaway was an important tradition to keep up to make sure everyone was well fed for the holidays.
“This is something we do every year for the senior citizens and our disabled clients,” said Valeria Glover, Social Services Program coordinator. “It’s just something that we love doing, to get out in the community and to see the smiles on their faces as they come through the lines.
“This is something we do every year. We just love doing the most good,”
A total of 300 bags were distributed.
