MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Midland Animal Services and Midland Animals Shelter Adoptables held its first ever Christmas Dinner for shelter animals on Friday. Officials and volunteers set up the feast Friday morning and animals got to eat their meals around lunch time.

“I’m really excited about this project. We did feed the animals Thanksgiving dinner, and so we had so much fun, and the dogs seemed to enjoy it so much that I was like, okay, let’s do it for Christmas, and I was very lucky. I brought this up to my fosters with MASA Rescue, and I said, how do y’all feel about going in and feeding all these animals in the shelter? Because obviously I was going to need help. And they all just jumped on board and said, oh my gosh, this is great. We would love to do it, and we hope that this will begin a tradition,” said Trayce Gearhart, President of MASA Rescue.

Items on the menu included green beans, chicken, and pumpkin with whipped topping to finish it off. Officials and volunteers also decorated the shelter with Christmas decorations to help the animals get in the Christmas spirit.
