I’m new to Chicago and have been having a blast trying out the different food the city has to offer and I thought I’d post some quick reviews here!
*(****Edit****: sincere apologies for not posting the restaurant names earlier; I was having issues posting my comment because it was too long. I finally figured it out and split it into two instead. Hopefully it’s up now, and everyone’s able to see the restaurant names + reviews!* 😊🙏)
**1. Kabobi Persian and Mediterranean Grill** (pics 1-2)
* **Quick review**: As a huge fan of Mediterranean food, I was super excited to try out Kabobi, after reading the countless raving reviews on the sub here. Ordered the ***Boneless Chicken Breast Kabob ($10.50)*** lunch entree and subbed the rice for ***grilled vegetables (additional $1.95)*** as I had a heavy breakfast that day. Unfortunately, the “grilled vegetables” essentially turned out to be a bunch of grilled onions, two thin slices of green peppers and two quarters of a tomato. I understand the lunch entrees are half the size of the dinner kabobs, but I felt pretty disappointed because the portion of the chicken kabob was a lot smaller than I expected, and a tad dry. Comparing this to Kabul House, which has a similar, albeit much juicier and flavorful chicken kabob lunch for $11.95, I would honestly go for Kabul any day, despite the further distance. * **Rating**: 2.5/5 stars
* **Quick review**: I’ve also been craving some fried chicken and biscuits, so I hit up the Lucy’s at Uptown. The ***2-Piece Fried Chicken Pieces ($12.95)*** was a great value-for-money, coming with two substantial pieces of chunky fried chicken. Chicken was a little on the dry side, but had a nice crisp batter and was decent enough to satisfy my fried chicken cravings. I loved that it came with a side of slaw, a buttermilk biscuit and a choice of sauce (I opted for Lucy’s Secret Sauce, which was basically like a spicy thousand island with hot sauce). But the surprise that stole the show was the honey butter (?) that was wonderfully whipped and fluffy, tasted smooth, sweet and creamy, and absolutely delicious with the biscuit. Overall really good for the price, but I probably wouldn’t return again, just because the chicken was just too dry. If anyone has recommendations for a good juicy fried chicken, I would absolutely love to know! * **Rating**: 3.5/5 stars

Absolutely love Kabobi HOWEVER I didn’t know they sold small portions 😂. Anytime I got an order is enough to feed a small family

Forget the food, I want to eat your camera

Kabobi was a huge disappointment. Dry, bland, cheap food doesn’t equate to something being good.
Many people would eat dirt if a restaurant sold it for a reasonable price.

Lucy’s, Green Street, and Sawada?
Not sure the first plate.
That first plate looks so good; where’s it from?
