FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Bringing some flavor to Fort Wayne on Christmas day – a local restaurant is planning on giving away free holiday meals Wednesday.

Owners at Pepper and Spice say giving back to the community is something they wanted to focus on this holiday season.

“You can bring yourself, bring your family and everyone is going to get a free meal,” says marketing officer for Pepper and Spice, Quiane Crews.

Crews says they saw a great turnout giving away free meals on Thanksgiving. He says, “We pushed out at least 200 meals within the first hour.”

He says that success made the decision to give out meals on Christmas an easy one. Crews says, “We know there’s a lot of people struggling to get a hot meal out here, so we want to be a resource to the community that supports us.”

Hot meals won’t just be at their location on Main Street. Crews says, “I’m going to be taking meals out downtown to the homeless community as well too just in case they can’t get around.”

Anyone is welcome to come get a warm meal. The giveaway will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Day.

They’ll be serving brown stew chicken and chicken curry.

Crews wants people to know, “Some people aren’t sitting with family eating with family. Our community is our family, come eat with us.”
