MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Westy’s is getting ready for its longtime holiday tradition of feeding the community on Christmas Day.
In a city where many face food insecurity, the employees at Westy’s are doing their best to ensure that those in need get a hot meal.
This marks the 20th consecutive Christmas dinner here at Westy’s.
Over the years, the partners who make this day happen, have served over 50,000 holiday meals.
It’s all thanks to organizations like Operation BBQ Relief and Lindenwood Christian Church.
About a month ago Westy’s served over 1,600 people.
The cooking was started around 4:00 on Wednesday morning and lines are expected by 7:00 a.m.
Hot meals will be served “to go” around 9:00 a.m. or sooner if they’re ready.
Westy’s will open to the public starting at 4:00 p.m. and remain open until 2:00 a.m. with a full menu.
