  1. Next 20 days is gonna see a lot more restaurant closings. Rip

There was no way I was ever going to pay for an overpriced (and bad) cheese board when the lake has such great street food options

Shame. Anecdotal but I went twice and half the menu wasn’t available…and I didn’t try a third time.

Unfortunately the boathouse doesn’t seem to make financial sense for restaurants. The space has turned over at least four times since I’ve lived here

  5. Idk what the economics are…

But everything in the boat house for the last ten years has been overpriced and underwhelming

I don’t know who this restaurant thought its customers were. I don’t think anyone wants to go to Echo Park Lake and buy a $20 smorrebrod.

What’s crazier is some dumbass will read this and still think they can put a restaurant there and be successful. Like egg tuck replacing the chicken spot when every business there has complained the construction is terrible for business.

The last tenant before Piknik was awesome and they forced him out. I don’t know all the details but the last time I spoke with the owner he wanted to pursue the legal route on how he was being treated. Abel is the guy who runs Piknik and he seems like a really great guy- unfortunately it was too expensive and cutesy for that spot. Also didn’t help that the food didn’t have any character.

This thing was open for maybe five months? I live right by the lake but never went because I found the menu silly and pretentious for Echo Park Lake and because they made you order from a touchscreen kiosk. Honestly, good riddance.
