TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) — Traverse City community meals made sure people were fed this Christmas with an annual holiday meal event hosted by Trinity Lutheran Church in Traverse City.
People were invited to grab food from ham and chicken to mashed potatoes and desserts while sitting together to eat.
Organizers say as much as it’s about providing food, it’s also about giving people someone to sit beside for their holiday meal.
“I’d rather be here than anywhere else being of service to other people. It’s to give people a place to go, maybe if they want to be around people or they just don’t feel like cooking. Whatever it may be,” said Russ Mehrhof, Traverse City Community Meals Program
Traverse City Community Meals offers free holiday meals every Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
