Pic 1 – Shin Shin in the Kitte Building (basement) next to Hakata Station.
Pic 2 – Hakata Issou Main Store, about a 5 minute walk from the station.
I live in Osaka, but last week my wife was traveling for business and had used some of her points with a credit card she had for a 6-Trip Card for the Shinkansen. After she came home, I grabbed the card and made my way to Hakata, grabbed a couple bowls and then headed back to Osaka (same day trip).
Total travel time – about 5.5hrs
Total time in Hakata – 2hrs
Two enjoyable bowls. I liked the Issou bowl a little more (it was a little more “Hakata Style” funky), but both were great.

Hell yeah, please share in r/rameninjapan as well
Next time try Ikkousha, I liked that one more than Issou
I don’t know why but I liked Shin Shin more than Issou
I admire your dedication with that trek.
Next time try Hakata Genki Ippai, huge fan of this bowl. Mengekijou Gen-ei is also a very quirky place, I feel like I’m eating at ramen stadium. Their bowls are small so it works out well for multi restaurant hopping.
