Ultimate first class wine tasting including some special bottles from the Emirates cellar;)

Chateau Mounton Rothschild (2003):
Nose: pencil lead, graphite, notes of blackcurrant.
Palate: suppressed palate akin to older wines. Subtle and pleasant tannins, yet very delicate. Hints of oak barrels.
Finish:
Slight pepperness, a few more tannins. On the verge of medium to full-bodied finish. Left behind slight residue on the bottom of the glass.

A bottle of Moutony goes close to €1,000, yet having drunk almost the entire bottle by myself on the plane, I would not buy the bottle myself as there are wines I enjoy much more, that cost less.

Speaking of…

Corton Charlemagne Grand Cry Louis Latour (2014)
Nose: floral, hints of vanilla? Slight citrus zest.
Palate: exceptionally balanced and elegant. Pleasant texture and viscosity. Zesty and tasty, light and medium-bodied. Hints of honeycomb, and influence of vineyard's stone plots.

The wine displayed nuanced flavours, yet I could not attribute a substantial depth to any flavour profiles not their intensify. (I prefer heavily oaked chardonnays and Montrachet wines).

Dom Perignon (2004):
Light and fruity. One of the best champagnes I have got to try.

Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey (2016):
Easily my top 3 Sauternes. Greater influence of peaches on the nose and palate than with other manufacturers.

Lastly, Buccella Cabernet Sauvignon (2019) was a pleasant surprise:
A range of Forrest fruits and blackcurrant on the nose.
Palate was exceptionally fruity and felt light, despite the wine being full-bodied (13.5%). Tannins were not noticeable, and was slightly of my best liking due to the lightness and possibly being a bit too young for drinking now.

  1. This is a stellar wine list and to add on the Mouton, that’s pretty amazing

  2. Tanukishouten

My, my, that is amazing indeed! Their business is already more than decent but that’s really much more impressive.

  3. Doesn’t the altitude mess up your nose quite a
bit? Saw a vid with a chef who was talking about how they needed to put more salt and flavor in airplane food

  4. The Indiana Jones backdrop just launched this into a top post wine post of all time for me.

You’ve reached the pinnacle of luxury (and taste) 🍷

I’d probably go through the entire list as tasting 🤣

I’ve got some late 2000s Buccellas that I’ve got in my cellar. Always a pleasure to open one of those bottles.

Is this included with business class/ first?

I’d hit that Dom P2 super hard then some Mouton. Other good wines there, and 2003 hardly my favorite BDX vintage, but that would be my strategy.
