Learn How to Chop Like a Chef in 4 Simple Steps – https://bengoshawk-site.thinkific.com/courses/the-4-step-process-for-incredible-knife-skills
On Christmas day my oven always gets overloaded.
I’m juggling turkey, roast potatoes, stuffing, cauliflower cheese…. the list goes on. Thats why I always make this braised red cabbage recipe.
It gets made completely on the stove top, only uses one saucepan, its alcohol-free, comes together quick, can be made ahead of time…… There’s plenty more to shout about with this recipe.
Also, I’ll show you an easy trick I use to help keep its deep beautiful colour.

I was looking for a good red cabbage recipe, and here it is! Thank you so much. I really like your style of tutorial, so good.
What a fabulous video! Taking the mystique out of something by using simple steps is so helpful. I shall make mine ahead of Christmas Day. Thank you!
Adding to my Christmas prime rib roast dinner! Your roasted potatoes and Yorkshire pudding, too! Thanks, Ben!
Love cabbage, but I don't believe I've had it like this, great recipe Chef, will have to try it out, thank you, have a festive Christmas season, cheers from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
Looks delicious! Just added a red cabbage to my grocery list.
I was just looking at recipes for this last night and here you are with one! Cheers! 🎄
Looks fantastic – could it be made the day before then gently reheated?
OK. For 2 people this is waaaay too much. I have never been able to buy a red cabbage small enough for us. Always left with 3/4 of one which ends up mouldy and bin fodder – other ideas for recipes/other uses for the rest?
I do mine in the slow cooker, frees up the oven and hob space. I love it.
Pink Lady apples are really supposed to be for guys named Jeff.
Ummmm so yummy 😋
Easy and yummy looking. Love your videos. Simple and direct.
I love red cabbage, I will make for dinner. Thanks 🎄☃️🎀
I just had this recipe in my suggestions from YouTube and I needed a recipe for Christmas so thought I’d watch it.
However, the loud pumping dance music that appeared suddenly was a shock! I have a neurological condition which means that it’s hard to cope with loud music added over the human voice. I don’t know when it’s coming, and I don’t want to watch everything on mute because then I don’t learn anything!
For anyone reading this, who doesn’t experience the same thing, I know how to turn down volume and I know how to mute 😮 but as a housebound person living alone, it’s nice to hear human voices.
I just find that so many programs, every video and every advert and every documentary comes with loud pumping dance music. It doesn’t add anything to cooking or sewing or gardening etc.
And for anyone who loves music with everything, you can add it. But because I can’t subtract the music, I will have to ask YouTube to not recommend this channel.
It’s a shame because the teaching style is really easy and helpful. This isn’t a criticism but just to let you know why some people can’t cope with the ‘music added to everything’ videos. ❤
It's kind of a national dish were i'm from. For a cabbage this size i use 4 or 5 apples, depending on the size, + a couple of onions. That's how i learned it from my mother.
I am new to your videos. Do you say what kind of salt that you use?
A favorite in my house that I don't think to make often enough! Leftover is good, cold, on a turkey sandwich.
Looks beautiful and you used no oil!
Yum! I’m thinking a little goat cheese on top would be fantastic as well!
Looks soo delious! Definitely making that. Thank you for this video just in time bought red cabbage. Sainsbury's selling them for 15p.
Thanks for this recipe. I'm going to be one of our sidedishes for Christmas dinner this year.
Looks a great recipe. In the past I've used a little fennel, balsamic vinegar and smoked lardons. Can't go wrong really. Leftovers are easy to freeze
Just made this yesterday. I wish I’d seen your video to get the apple & sugar infusion.
I used a star anise and some balsamico to add sweetness and flavour. It’s been sitting all day today and I may add some Vin Santo, if necessary.
Thank you & Happy Christmas
Wunderschön erklärt ❤
This channel is great. Perfectly shot, edited, and explained. A++++++++
does this have the benefits of fermentation like kimchee?
Got a red cabbage gonna make this cheers happy 2025
I made that twice since last watching it. So delicious 😋 thank you.
Ben I echo all the comments about your helpful and approachable style – thank you. made this dish a few days ago and prefer it cold/next day when the cinnamon really comes through.
