External_Muffin2039

Holy shit I completely forgot about eating this as a kid but I literally tasted it when I saw your title! I just looked it up to see if it’s maybe an Eastern European thing because I *think* my mom is the one who made it for us at first, and [apparently it’s a Jewish thing!](https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/food/articles/simple-pleasures-bananas-cream)

Ok have you had a banana mayo Sammy? Do it like a grilled cheese, you know buttered bread in a pan. Game over.
kisela_lignjica
honestly this seems like a banger combination
Ok_Wasabi_9512
This isn’t bad whatsoever. I used to eat banana and mayo sandwiches when I was little.
Soft_Delivery_3889
I once made a banana and cream cheese sandwich in a Kaiser roll. Won’t lie, it was the best ever. I believe in this whole thing

Homie wtf?

I’d try it. I’ve used plain Greek yogurt in place of sour cream so … why not?
Informal-Release-360
Are you by any chance Jewish ?
NitroChaji240
I’d be willing to try it at least once
RA242
We used plain yogurt instead because sour cream was too expensive 😔
nehla01
what does this taste like…?
Me-thinks-so-me-are
We used to mix sour cream with jam and eat with a piece of toast. It was good!

“Oh, bananas with whipped cream! I don’t see the problem with — wait…. Sour cream‽”

I grew up with strawberries dipped in sour cream and then rolled in brown sugar
ShelleyDez
I mean, that’s my breakfast except Greek yoghurt which is super sour so I’m sure this probably works but sour cream is much more expensive than yoghurt so I don’t see the point
space_cheese1
sour cream is great in desserts, I see know issue, but then again I don’t conceive of sour cream as mayo adjacent
presidentkokoro
I’ve had this before, it’s pretty good (just sounds a little offensive), add some brown sugar to the sour cream, it makes a huge difference. Also it works great with greek yogurt and honey.

I had Eastern European grandparents who had a Jewish lodger on the other floor of their house for a long time and I am constantly trying to figure out if things I think are Eastern European are just Jewish. You just answered one of those questions for me 😂

I’m a weirdo but I’ll 💯try it. I do yogurt with, like several above comments/ I knew someone that used to dip grapes in sour cream. I’ll do cheese or jam or yogurt on apple slices. I also see that with sour cream being a possibility. Be kind, I’m an untamed and wild spirit when it comes to foods. 😌

Every culture has such a weird take bananas compared to other ones. It’s pretty interesting.
Well, not really, gross.

So your the lady that eats the “dollop of daisy” with a strawberry 🤔
MadBlasta
The banana looks so overripe, I feel like sour cream would be…kinda good? I’ve never in my life considered eating this, but I would be willing to try it
XephyrGW2
Ok I don’t know about sour cream, but in Sweden we have something called Filmjölk https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filmj%C3%B6lk and it hoes great with any kind of cereal, müsli, fruits, or berries. Adding bananas is very common. It’s fucking great too.
HAL_9_TRILLION
People say something similar when I talk about cottage cheese and pineapple but for real that shit is unbeatable.

All the salvadoran restaurants I go to serve their sweet plantains with sour cream and refried beans as dipping sauces for them. I’m totally into it
