100% 🥇 Finely sliced shread-ucce is a MUST. For the K-Mart sub. I remember that came in bags of 3 or 5 each. The deli meat had an oddly strong vinegar tang to it, and the roll was very white and soft with no flavor. Banana peppers are a nice touch but were not available in the 70’s at my local K-Mart. No tomato or onion either. The heaping mound of shread-ucce was the only moisture addition to the sandwich besides mayo. It was a Big deal If my Mother would splurge on a sack of these when I was a child.

Not K-Mart specifically, but what the hell was up with low grade retail (K, Walmart, etc) doing the whole deli/food thing? I never went in a Walmart back then and just needed a roller dog from yesterday. Who was eating this stuff?
