I found this manager special price $21.99 / lb for “USDA Choice” tenderloin. What do you guys think? It seems… a bit too well marbled. Second pic is a comparison for the same grade meat from the same place.

The whole carcass is graded, not individual cuts.

Don’t know if it’s choice, but it’s definitely not tenderloin.

    Managers special 🤣
That’s pretty steep for a managers special !!

Looks like it was just mislabeled. Must happen from time to time. The sticker also says 1.14lbs and if this is two chucks you’d be looking at more like 6lbs.

Oh yeah and even when it’s tenderloin, this is a shit price for choice.

I always thought that beef is cheap in the US…

Grading is judged by cutting a section and doing that , Not each cut

Also id leave that in the cooler

The first one is Prime. This happened now and then that at the processing plant would mix in a box of Prime steaks marked as Choice, the Grocery chain didnt sell Prime meat and had no skew to up the price. When this happened the meat dept manager would call everyone on his favorite list and ask how many steaks to set aside hahaha.

Looks more like prime to me. Too much marbling for choice. Hope it was delicious! 😋
