A relatively new vegan restaurant posted this recently, which brought a new round of snark to our local subreddit.

I can't imagine charging someone $110 (prepaid, per person, byob, lcol area) and bringing them out a plate of tacos that looks like… This. Maybe there are seasonings under the raw veggies?

There's more drama about the "ambience", but that could be a whole 'nother post.

How much would you pay for these? What would you serve on an actually good vegan taco priced like that?

I can eat at an actual Michelin star restaurant in my city for $30 more. This is insanity.

  2. Yeah, just…no. More power to them if they fill seats with paying customers, though.

  3. lilcry444

You’re paying for the experience not the food, duh
Of course I’m being sarcastic, that is ridiculous lol

First pic: This looks like a food fair. What, two tickets? $8, $10 maybe if I’m that hungry?

    Second pic: mother of god

A weeks worth of groceries for a fucking snack.

  6. HoldEvenSteadier

A sucker is born every minute. I took time to think about it and thought “$10 at a chain place, $20-$25 if it’s a nice restaurant actually coming through on all of it.”

  7. NoGovAndy

There are 2 spaces between “chocolate” and “peanut” at the fourth course.

  8. LooseInvestigator510

Does it include the finest sysco sourced soyrizo? Price is insane.

What’s the context of this, is this someone trying to cater events? Bruschetta, quasi charcuterie and tacos with a dessert sound like about $25 a head at most? Also ‘mistress corn salad’ is incredibly tacky. Makes me think this is put on by ren faire people that haven’t showered in a week.

The whole menu seems so repetitive as well. Same ing over and over.

  11. Annual_Version_6250

That’s really expensive for a vegan tasting menu with so few courses.

As for the tacos…. that’s what my “make a quick taco while preparing tacos for everyone” looks like…. not impressive at all.

  12. EelTeamTen

I wouldn’t pay a dollar for that shit. The fuck?

  13. mynameisnotsparta

Paying to reserve a table is totally absurd.

And if they brought this out to me for the third course, I would definitely be asking for a refund. Those look like store-bought tacos where are the beans? Where is the corn salsa and why would they shove everything in that tiny bowl?

I can get 2 tacos made with so much more love, care, and flavor for $2 from the truck outside of AutoZone in my town, FOH with $110 for Old El Paso shells, guac in plastic cups, and probably frozen cake.

  15. heddingite1

I was literally thinking $7 and then saw the actual price. This is why restaurants are dying off

  16. BaxterSea

    That’s why they demand prepayment.
Imagine trying to collect after serving that up …

  17. Plastic_Primary_4279

I don’t even need a pic of the food, though that makes it way worse. That menu and that price point is outrageous. It reeks of nothingness and zero creativity. If you signed up for it, you get what you deserve.

Those “fully loaded” tacos make me sad.

My rule of thumb: when you see that font, run in the opposite direction.

Look at those fucking tortillas Jesus Christ

  19. jabbadarth

Holy shit, I found the place and there is zero chance they make it a year, if that.

All black for the dress code, no leather shoes or belts, phones taken away and put in velvet bags on your table, staff are called doms and mistresses. The food os the least of their concerns. This is a crappy restaurant posing as a sex club.

I have serious questions about an olive and cheese board paired with a vegan main (served in a bowl, nonetheless). I know vegan “cheese” exists but there is no way it’s any good in that context. Just… don’t even. Find something else. Hummus?

  21. IReadUrEmail

I could literally get 55 tacos for that price and theyre the best ive had in my life.

  22. Teflon_John_

I wouldn’t pay anything for that shitty menu. Using the term “house made” is stupid once on a menu, thrice on a four item menu is absolute clown shoes. Calling yourself “Chef Mistress” is so fucking lame. What the hell even is this?

  23. spookyhooch

Got sucked in to their instagram and realized my face was twisted in a disgusted frown and got the hell outta there.

  24. The developer of this menu should be taken out back and shot with a beanbag cannon repeatedly.

  25. Chef mistress will take your money and you’ll thank her for it

  26. For vegan tacos? 6$ each, so 12$ total.

For that whole “tasting menu” I’d say 48$. And that would include the inevitable service charge. I would also still be hungry and consider that a rip off.

I’ve been working in restaurants for 27 years. If that lends and credence to my opinions on pricing.

  27. Bahahahaha these made it to kitchen confidential 🤣 that lady SUCKS. Absolutely sucks

  28. MaapuSeeSore

    4 course for 110$ ,

We have a 7 course here in one of the most expensive places in the world for 85$

    wtf ?

  29. LordofThaTrap

You’ll never get a better taco than $2 tacos out of a truck

  30. Scav-STALKER

The only thing I’d be paying is my respects for their dying business. /s I have no respect for that, the only money spent would be on gas to go somewhere else

  31. CellE2057

Shit like this is why Vegan food still gets a bad rep. Without looking, there’s undoubtedly an African or Indian place near this spot that sells incredible, reasonably priced, food that *just happens* to be vegan.

This shit looks dryer than a middle aged woman after her partner takes her out for this travesty. It looks dryer than the conjoined twin of a washing machine. It looks dryer than a crust punks jeans. Shit looks like what would happen if you put “white people Vegan tacos” into an AI and then made it walk thru the dessert for a week without water.

These aren’t even well plated! The tacos I made at Cheesecake Factory had to be more uniform and I was expected to pump out at minimum 40 an hour!
