Looks like it could be good if you treat it right.

No way, just send it to me for proper disposal.

  3. I see these Walmart steaks on this sub and when I go looking I can never find ones with good marbling.

  4. five-minutes-late

That’s good marbling for a steak from anywhere.

That’s amazing for a Walmart Steak!

I’ve had two of these Walmart Wagyu steaks
The first one I did the 137 Sous vide and it was gross and chewy and inedible
The second one I did a reverse sear to 122 thinking Wagyu fat has a lower melting point t and it looked like perfect doneness but tasted like ass, so bad the family all spit out their bites when I tried to check it wasn’t just me. It’s like some kind of industrial chemical spilled on it before being packaged up.

So I want to love these-who wouldn’t love a $17 wagyu or prime- but can’t bring myself to try a 3rd time. Their regular steaks are fine

Edit: I cook a metric fuckton of steaks, this wasn’t technique

  9. Show it in the Walmart packaging bc I’m calling cap.

  10. Walmart has upped their game on Steaks, Blue packaging prime is very good, and the individually packaged angus (choice) steaks are good as well!

I get choice ribeyes from Walmart that are nearly this good all the time for $11.49/lb. It’s the vac sealed ones, just dig through the pile every time you go and check for good ones. I find them more often than not

Walmart can be a hit sometimes! It looks excellent

How do we feel about the chunk of fat in the middle? Should I aim for a steak without that? I am new to all of this and can recognize the value in the fat strip along the left side (what I believe is called the cap) looking to learn more about it all! TIA!

honestly walmart steaks are pretty decent. Publix is down the tubes but i always get a quality steak from walmart, not even from the butcher.

Salt brine it for a hour or two and grill that thing up.

If you day it’s from Walmart, post it still in the packaging.

Wal-gyu steak. Wonder about the country of origin.

Damn, the last time I had a steak from Walmart it fell completely apart like it was being held by meat glue or something.

    This looks good, good job.

Walmart really stepped up their game with this one

You’re good to go! Score the fat so it doesn’t curl up.
