NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – According to Second Harvest Middle Tennessee, 1 in 8 people experience food insecurity, including 1 in 6 children.
As Thanksgiving approaches, many organizations are working with Feeding America and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee to get food to people in need.
According to Feeding America, it’s best to ask your local food bank what they offer for food, their hours and any requirements.

Nashville, TN
Belle Meade United Primitive Baptist Church at 1018 42nd Avenue North will have a distribution event on Tuesday, Nov. 26. They will have meats, produce and baked goods.
Lewisburg, TN
Life Song Family Church at 1041 S. Ellington Parkway in Lewisburg, Tennessee, will give away free Thanksgiving meals to families on Thanksgiving. On Saturday, Nov. 23, volunteers helped with bag assembly and distribution. Later in the week on Wednesday, Nov 27, and Thursday, Nov. 28, volunteers will make meals and deliver them on Thanksgiving Day.
Murfreesboro, TN
At Salvation Army in Murfreesboro, every evening at 5 p.m. they offer hot meals to those in the community. The Salvation Army in Murfreesboro is located at 1137 West Main St.
