Starting to learn to cook for myself, hoping to make a positive change in my life.

Looks like a pretty good deal. We make almost every meal at home since all the prices are insanely high now. We are saving $1K per month easy for our family of 5 by not eating out.

That actually isnt bad for all the stuff you got 👏🏼

If you get meat on Bogo at Kroger and freeze part of it you can have it available at other times. I do that all the time especially the chicken.

Are you cooking just for yourself?

That can easily go a week!

I’d sit down and map the whole week out, if possible. I only say that in case you have more food than you’ll eat & need to freeze something.

I see you got riceland rice and I also see you shopped at a kroger store. Just a heads up, I use kroger rice and it’s good:) another way to cut back, unless you prefer it

Man, you guys still have it alight in terms of groceries in the US. We are having some serious issues around monopolizing and consolidated supply chains in Canada. They would easily be $300 USD here

Looks like a great haul! Pro tip: it’s kind of a pain to do, but getting blocks of kroger cheese and shredding it yourself will greatly improve the flavor! Also the freshly shredded cheese will melt better, since the packaged pre-shredded tends to have corn starch or other cellulose on it to keep it from sticking together. I like to get a few blocks of cheese when it’s on sale, usually about once a month or so. The blocks freeze well, and also tend to last a long time in the fridge, especially if you leave them sealed! Shredding goes way faster if you can get a food processor with a shredder attachment.
