It’s not entirely what it seems. My wife works Sunday nights and I used to work behind the line. Now I “perfect” recipes to stay in the kitchen, but the only day I can really do it is Sunday. So here is my dish I made tonight for no one. 🤷🏼♂️
Coffee brined pork tenderloin with a bed of whiskey cream sauce accompanied by gratin potatoes. Recipes upon request.

I do the same thing on the super rare occasion when my wife has the kids out for the evening/night. Last time I made red wine-braised short ribs and mashed potatoes from scratch. Wayyyy too much food but I did my best lol
That looks amazing!
I feel you bro. I hate cooking for family when they’re around. Not because I don’t love them, but I feel like every step is scrutinized. Doesn’t feel as free. I just play it safe so as not to disappoint, but that squashes creativity.
Happy eating friend.
My husband has been taking care of his mom, so sometimes I “date” myself when he isn’t here. Hand cut pasta, porcini crusted filet, spiral spring cut veggie salads, cake. Things with too many truffles or with parsley (because he hates it and I love it).
It’s good to play with your craft even if the only audience is you, and despite what the industry did/does to us mentally, we deserve nice things. This meal looks incredible, chef. I hope it gave you some serotonin.
Honestly I really just had a craving for gratin potatoes
Nobody does you like you do yourself…
I haven’t done this for myself in forever. You make it look appealing again, op. Nice work.
Damn..got any leftovers?
Looks very tasty, OP!
“look i made myself dinner” i mean wow. I had several ounces of cheese wiz, half a can of dust off and a few Sleepy Garys (boxed wine and nyquil or like a handful of tylenol pm/ whatever) and you dont see me posting about it
What was the total cost of this dinner?
From the bouchon cookbook???? Hell yeah brother that’s gotta be an amazing read.
Maybe a veggie? Doesn’t have to be healthy, creamed spinach to round out the meal (and your waistline)
Congrats dude. I find it hard to cook beyond the basics for myself.
