    I cooked on a permanently moored 3 masted sailing ship. The law was no open flames on the boat so all the cooking was done on electric stoves and ovens. I fucking hated it.

    Then I convinced the owner to buy a bunch of induction burners and that was much better.

    Another thing was the kitchen was on the back of the boat and the floor was pitched, so there was constantly water running downhill across the kitchen floor from all the steam kettles and tilt skillets and whatnot. People were always slipping. It was a shitshow.

    Also I used to wear an eyepatch and talk like a pirate at work, it drove the chef crazy, the bloody lubber.

    I do not miss working on a ship. I worked for Uniworld(also an EU river fleet) as a relief chef for a season and quickly determined that’s not the life for me
