The Nazarene Church of High Prairie hosted a Community Christmas Lunch on Dec. 24.

“We had about 50 people attend, so it was a great success,” says Pastor Tracy Stewart.

People of all ages, from children to seniors, were served at the first such event for the church.

“We heard that our guests enjoyed the food and getting together for Christmas Eve,” says Stewart, who started at the church March 17.

“They also enjoyed the live music and singing Christmas carols; the musicians was a wonderful highlight.”

Fellowship was also great, she adds.

“I got to meet some people I had not met before and there were a few familiar faces, too,” Stewart says.

“It is wonderful that we have the church building to host events like this for the community.”

She says the church plans to make the Community Christmas Lunch an annual event.

The special lunch was an extension of the church’s Seniors’ Bistro hot lunch that started Nov. 14. 2023.

“That’s what inspired the Community Christmas Lunch,” Stewart says.

“Not only are we helping people with a meal, but connecting with people in the community is so important and we are able to do that.”

She appreciates all those who supported the event.

Stewart thanks everyone who attended, volunteered and prepared and served the food.

The Seniors’ Bistro continues on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church located at 4900 – 59 Ave.
