I've been wanting to try this style for a long time and decided my sister's birthday cake was the perfect opportunity. If I screwed up I knew it would be forgiven 😄.

It turned out better than I expected although I think it could have been better with a different frosting. It's definitely a time consuming technique but I really enjoyed it!

Beautiful! What frosting would you have changed to/from?

If by “finally tried” you mean “I do this professionally and this is my 1,000th basket weave cake”, I believe you.

    Flawless and stunning! Lovely job!

When I was a little girl, many many years ago, you could still go to a window to watch ladies in the grocery store making and icing the cakes.

I always dreamed I’d learn to decorate cakes that look just like yours! (I never did, but I’ve done other cool stuff, haha)

    You are an incredible artist.
