The hardest part is picking witch 4 to grow this year. Any suggestions?
If you could only pick 4.. what would you pick?

Definitely don’t leave out the sugar rush stripey, although I find it really odd they labeled it a chinense species.

Do more than four? Thsts how it always ends up for me. I say I’m doing X number and I end up with “scope creep” it seems to get worse every year too.

I really enjoyed the thunder mountain longhorn. Just a really fun and cool pepper and in terms of versatility, the most useful in the kitchen for a quick meal imo, just chop one up into a dish and you’ve got yourself some good flavor without too much worry.

Why grow just four? Like someone else said, you start out intending to grow X number of peppers, but what’s the fun in that? Let your pepper freak flag fly and see what you can accomplish. I also started with the idea of growing a small variety of pepper plants since I’ve never grown from seeds, but once I got started, I couldn’t bear the idea of only growing a few different kinds. Instead, concentrate on picking out the strongest 2-3 seedlings and grow as many as you can fit in your grow space. I specifically built two 8’x4’x12” raised beds and now I’m seriously considering building two more because I had been sprouting 60 seedlings at a time and culling each section of six seedlings down to the best 2-3 candidates. I currently have 48 going – the spacer for one of my self watering trays went missing so I’m down 12 slots – and I have 8 different varieties germinating right now (on day 5).
