I (18) made steak for the first time. Does it look alright? Was going for medium rare…
Dunno if it’s supposed to bleed or not

Great job, especially for the first time. It’s not bleeding. Beef has a protein called myoglobin which will color the juice a deep red. Next time I would let the steak rest for about 10-15 minutes. This will keep more of the juice in the muscle and make it even tastier. Great work and keep it up 👍

It’s more rare than med. But I prefer that way

It’s perfect!

Non-existent crust, but that’s medium rare alright.
You need to let it sit longer under foil before eating.
The color of meat juice indicates you didn’t use enough butter during the process. Should throw some rosemary and garlic cloves in there next time too.

Nice job. Steaks that skinny are hard to get medium rare and also get a proper sear.

Nicely done just need to work on the crust

Looks great for a thin steak. I used to get passed medium to medium well many times. Especially when I could only afford cheap sirloin. It was back in my A1 stage too. 🤣

Next steak do this. Start with a proper steaks. About 1 – 1.5”. Dry steak with paper towel, salt, cracked pepper, garlic power. Cook on cast iron skillet on stove or grill. High heat, right when the pan starts smoking it’s ready. Add health amount of butter to pan. Drop on steak, 2.5mins it will have nice char, flip, turn heat to med and cook to 125* then Pull to rest a couple mins before eating. Last couple mins melt more button on top. Easy as it gets and delicious.

Looks good you’ve done well.

Excellent work, I wish I was that great at 18, you are ahead of the curve!

I would’ve liked a better sear on mine. But otherwise it looks perfect

Looks good, great job on the veggies too! I’d destroy that plate.

Those pancake steaks are tough to cook. I make sure I have some toppings like a mushroom sauce or something because the cook is impossible

I think you cooked it about as well as you could considering you have a steak that’s far too thin.

Looks damn good to me 🤤

Very edible though next time buy a thicker steak and sear some crust on outside

Perfect. I want some

Steak looks great. Hold the salad on top for me though lol. Just meat and potatoes :p

Looks good for a steak that thin. Really hard to get a good sear without overcooking it.
Eastsider001
You don’t have to lie, someone else cooked this. This is prepared by someone who knows how to serve a proper dish and 18 year olds isn’t built like this, nut this properly done…. AGAIN!!!

To reduce the “blood” let it rest before cutting into it.

That’s med rare plus. Well done on your first steak!!! It’s really hard to cook steaks medium rare that are so thin! Off to a great homie!!!

It’s not blood.

For how thin that cut is, closer to medium is more than fine. Well done.

Passes the eye test for me. Well played.

Looks good. For thin cuts of meat i like to blast the pan/skillet on high heat for just a few moments at the very beginning to get a nice crust on there.
ThePracticalPenquin
If you can do that first time with one that thin I am exited to see what you can do with a thicker cut. Learn on!
sevinsevins
Good job! If you want a tasty and good looking sear make sure it’s at room temperature and pat it dry with a paper towel before you season/salt and pepper. Then when you put it down press it with your hand once and don’t touch it again after that. Let it go for a minute or two then repeat that move on the other side.
