First time baking macarons and they turned out looking like this 🙁 the taste is like a macaron but aesthetically they look….interesting. I think it might be because I undermixed the batter? or I didn't mix the meringue enough until stiff peaks formed. I put cream of tar tar in and let my egg whites age the day before to stabilize it, but I don't know which part of the baking turned out wrong.

Did you weigh out all ingredients? If so, can you post measurements below?
Also, are you using an oven thermometer? Typically when it looks this interesting 🙂 it is something more serious than undermixed meringue or overmacronaged, which tend to look more typical but might have issues with the feet or hollow when you bite into it.
For what it’s worth, I just made some really similar looking ones, here’s where I *think* I wrong. I forgot to push “tare” on my scale until about 3 seconds after I started sifting the almond flour, so I probably got the measurements wrong there. Then I think I overwhipped my meringue, it was a bunch of short stiff peaks rather than one long one (of course I walk away from my mixer for TWO minutes). No matter how long I did macronage, it was stiff and didn’t flow off the spatula. I read on here that you can just add a bit more egg whites to make it flow, so I did, but all those add up to some uggo macarons. Mine are really chewy and crackled and wrinkly, flat, no feet, gummy. Horrible! I made macarons a few years ago for the first time and they were perfect, so I guess I got cocky.
Because they are macarons. There’s a million things that could go wrong and even the best bakers much up batches all the time. Things to do with oven temperature or tray positioning matter, over and under whipping the egg whites, how long you dry things, your technique for piping, etc. My main point is, don’t beat yourself up over macarons. They are arguably the hardest cookie to make.
For as wonky as they look I bet they taste good. You should make a bunch and fill them then call them macawrongs 🙂 and have a whole party of eating wonky looking macarons
