In the video he is eating these peppers and talking? He doesn’t take one bite, he doesn’t eat one, he is eating them throughout the video. How is this done? In another video I saw he eats a ghost pepper with a straight face as a freaking snack. Can someone explain this to me?

Ed Currie I believe said he eats three pepper x’s per day to keep his tolerance up. If there’s a will, there’s a way.

  2. I grow reapers every year.

Now I can eat one right off the plant, but I’ll never go for more than one. After the first one, it’s hard to appreciate the taste, because now you’re just fighting off the stinging of the taste buds as you power through the pain.

So while I’ll eat one every few days, what I like to do is grow my batch, and then I put them in a smoker. After they’ve been in the smoker for 8 hours, I dehydrate them.

Once they’re dehydrated, they go into a processor and are turned into a super super fine powder, almost like a baby powder.

And then I use that power when I make food.

Excellent flavor, and out of this world heat.

I have 4 top peppers I produce: Tobasco, Burrito, Habanero, and Carolina Reaper.

But all together, I grow about 17 varieties each year.

Right now I’m working on a cross strain between the burrito and the Carolina reaper. I’m on gen 5, and starting to get some interesting results. Not completely stable yet though. A lot of effort to get those to take.

I’m not sure what answer you’re looking other than “he’s different” but maybe it helps to think about how capsaicin doesn’t physically burn you like acid—it’s all about how your body reacts to it. Capsaicin triggers pain and inflammation by fooling your heat and pain receptors, but for whatever reason(s) (genes gave him less receptors, burnout, muted inflammatory response) this guy’s body barely reacts. Kind of like how birds can eat superhots without any problem; not every creature reacts to capsaicin the same way most people do.

That first little bit where you get to enjoy what’s actually a very good flavor and the heat is just starting to build is the best part.

I would never, in a million years, go in for a second one.

Just a high tolerance from eating a lot of heat for a lot of years. I sat down once and ate 10 reapers. I was sweating a lot more than this guy, but I loved the burn.

What I didn’t love was the capsacin cramps later. So ever since then I limit myself to one reaper per day. 🙂

  6. Everyone has a different level of tolerance. Just because your level isn’t his level doesn’t make it weird that he can do this.

  7. A coworker of mine loved peppers for flavor, but had absolutely zero reaction to capsaicin. We didn’t believe him, so I brought in a bag of ghost peppers and before I could even start recording he downed one down to the stem. No reaction, no sniffles, nothing at all. He ate 2 more, nothing. Repeated it with reapers, no effect whatsoever. No after effects either, on the way out, other than he said if he eats a bunch of superhots straight he’ll get some indigestion. As a litmus test we gave him some horseradish after that since he had never had it, he went straight for a spoonful since he had no idea what he was in for, and it nearly put him on the floor. Never heard of anyone being straight up immune to capsaicin, we even tried to find other cases online.

  8. This is what real tolerance is. Tbh idk if i can do fresh real peppers of this level. I know i can with preserved ones. They are more volitile then any sauce or canned ones.

Even though ive eatten hot before. Id have to pause and consider before eatting these. Like next 3 days and being off that time for after math lmao

I think he has mistaken flavour for pain.

That must hurt so, so much.
