I’ve been here once. I was terrified and asked them to cook it in the back for me. 💀

There’s no fecking way that rock is a) hot enough or b) going to stay hot enough to cook a steak.
(ETA: Apparently I’m wrong TIL. Still ain’t eating there)
christo749
Who taught her to use a fork?!
-Visher-
I’m sure they want a massive tip as well when you’re the one doing all the work… lol

I’m paying for someone to cook my food, I’m not paying money to cook it myself. Fuck this place.
AWasteOfMyTime
You would cut the steak slices first, not half ass attempt to sear it. And btw that “steak” has zero marbling and would be tougher than an old boot
GeneJuggler
I didn’t know what I was ordering in Portugal when I ordered a ‘hot rock’ dish. I was so angry, I go to restauraunts for a professional to make something tasty, not to let me do the work on a stupid gimick.
mindlessenthusiast
Absolutely not. If I go to a restaurant, I don’t expect to have to cook the food myself. I could stay home and do that.

Lol went to one of these places on vacation as a kid. The rock stays surprisingly hot, but why don’t they oil it? That would be better than salt to keep it from sticking. Anyway, yeah, if you slice the meat and grill it all by piece, you can get a decent medium to well grill.
Hopeful-Flounder-203
That place is gimmick trash. I went once. The grilling of the steaks literally smelled like dog food. I ordered a salad.
stewajt
All the flavor is stuck to the rock lol. Louis Maillard is rolling in his grave

Who would want a lecture before eating? Okkkaay
dsbwayne
Nah, Black Rock is actually extremely fun and the meat cooks…
Bombadildeau
I love how all of the delicious parts with the maillard reaction are left to burn. The best parts.

What the fuck is she even doing?

Bro, this is normal and has been forever.

I want to have dinner, not a cooking class

It’s wild seeing a place I work down the street from end up on Reddit
icyhotonmynuts
Honestly, that looks gross. I’d have sent it back and gotten something else.
nanfanpancam
So now you have to cook your dinner.
Clamstradamus
Fuck cooking my own food at a restaurant. That includes hot pot. I think the only people who enjoy this are those who don’t have to cook for their family every day. If someone puts your dinner in front of you every day, this might be a fun novelty, but if it’s your only day off from the household kitchen and you end up at a restaurant with a heat source and some raw meat on a plate you’re gonna have a bad time.

If I have to cook my own food I’m staying home and paying less. Also, she got butter from the top of the piece she cut off on the stone.
Avraham_Levy
Stone should be polished not this kind of crap

This is always so painful to watch and yet everytime it’s posted, I can’t look away.
By the way, I do not blame her for this, I blame the restaurant and training.
I have been to one of these places and the steak cooked just fine, but the quality sucked for what you paid for. The gimmick was clearly where the cost was and that gimmick was a total waste.
