Does anyone use something similar in their shop? The thought of using a rag kinda grosses me out, curious as to how this would fit into a commercial workflow and if it's worth the investment. Does it save time? Do you find it cleaner?

In case anyone’s wondering what these are for – it’s to make cleaning the portafilter quieter, makes the coffee shop a more relaxing environment I suppose. Let’s say you have an open mic and someone’s banging the portafilter every two minutes? Can be a bit annoying, this (and other good ones) eliminates that.

People will do anything except use a rag
This is why you use 4 rags – dry portafilter, wet for steam wand, sanny, dry for dusting
Knocking a portafilter gets 99.99% of coffee grounds. A towel will get the 0.01%.
You should really wash your portafilters if you’re this worried about cleaning your portafilters which these devices don’t do. Knock the portafilter, Start an extraction on the group head, wash the portafilter and then attached. Wipe dry before the next use. Cleans the inside of the basket, the outside of the basket, the inside of the portafilter and the spouts.
I saw one here being sold in Australia.

These things will remove grounds and residue, but there will still be coffee oils / moisture leftover. Surely you’d still be wiping it with a cloth after.
my shop had one of these, within a week it was broken lmao. it takes longer to use than to just hit the puck out and wipe the portafilter
