Never seen it done with a red onion. I don’t think that would be as good as with a yellow onion

Is there a reason these got a bunch of press for being unhealthy compared to literally like any other fried appetizer (maybe not in calories but in spirit) type thing?
I remember maybe it was like outback steakhouse everyone was like omg they are so unhealthy
