Light bodied, medium + acid, medium – tannin. Tart underripe red fruit set; cranberry, raspberry, pomegranate. Surprisingly freshness to the fruit set given its age. Subtle wet earth / compost aroma but the palate was all lean fresh red fruit.
A special wine to open for me; I visited in ‘16 and upon entering the winery I was immediately handed a glass of just-fermented ‘16 juice (not sure where exactly the fruit was from) from Fred Lafarge himself, ladled into a glass straight from tank. In my heart this bottle (acquired on Winebid, ~$30) is that same juice. What a joy and a privilege. Elegant, perfumed, lifted, classic Burgundy. Cheers everyone.
