I just arrived in Kyoto, Japan, a few days ago and discovered that there aren’t many breakfast places here. Sure, you could grab a sandwich from a bakery or convenience store, but that’s about it. It’s also pretty common for Japanese people to skip breakfast or eat on the way to work.
Luckily, I found a franchise restaurant that’s open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Problem solved—haha!

This is Kyoto. poor and typical ryocan breakfast is,
Where are you staying in Kyoto? You can find Nakau (or Yoshinoya/Sukiya/Matsuya) all over Kyoto for Japanese breakfast, and same for “western” breakfast from chains like Doutour.
You can get breakfast from this place called “Makudo.” Kyoto has a whole bunch of them.
I recommend giving **Miyakoyasai Kamo** a try for some cheap and solid breakfast options with lots of fresh veggies. Bonus point: it’s a buffet, so you can try a lot of new foods or get stuffed on delicious curry and rice. You can find cheaper stuff at Nakau, Yoshinoya & all, but it’s great if you want a more complete and healthy breakfast!
