Is this too much carbs? Rice and potatoes. Is chicken and steak overkill? I start my day off with overnight oats and a protein bar. This tray here is my lunch. Then I end the day with a bottle of chia water and fruits and veggies. Would this be a good prep to try and cut some weight? I feel like I should definitely throw in some veggies. Looking for opinions please!

We recently added a rule (#6) requiring either a recipe or list of ingredients, since it is so often requested. If you wouldn’t mind adding that we’d appreciate it!
Look’s like you’ve caught ‘the protein is the saviour train’ here. Unless you need the extra protein it’s not as beneficial. Solid meal none the less. I’d eat it.
Experiment with the rice and additions. Stick with one protein flavour source in nearly every case, and jazz up the rice with more veg, msg, seasonings, etc. just my suggestions.
I was going to separate trays to either just chicken with the rice and potatoes or just steak with the rice and potatoes. I feel like that would’ve been my best bet. Also looking to throw in some steamed veggies.
And no, carbs isn’t heavy bye the looks, probably underrepresented to be honest.
Looks tasty! Do you work out intensely regularly? If so yea eating 1-1.5g/lean body weight per day can prime your body for great recovery. Otherwise it’s probably too much meat. Def always good to get extra veggies in as well 🙂 Also I recommend doing at least 2/days week full vegetarian meals since you are a heavy meat eater as I am, it’s good for the gut and the wallet
If you like it and suits your goals then it’s all good in my book. Looks tasty!
If were me, I’d probably make a combination of single protein (steak or chicken) and carb (potato or rice) bowls and maybe add veg or other side? I just did this (kind of) over past few weeks: ran out of rice so baked some diced potatoes as a base under some leftover smoked chicken thighs, then over weekend made spiral sliced ham and portioned some out over rice. Added portion of frozen broccoli to all bowls and presto – a 3.5 minute microwaved meal. Just pulled my first from the freezer for lunch today and it was tasty!
This is a great sub to browse for ideas if you need them! You’re in the right spot.
Are these bowls microwave friendly?
