Next time get a rolling boil going with some vinegar and salt. Boil them and then straight into an ice bath. Crack with a spoon.

Well, it looks like the type of eggs the devil would make, so you’re not far away from that!

Ah yes white protein in the gloop sauce

Did you lack the patience to peel the shell properly? That’s some nasty work my guy.
KORZILLA-is-me
It’s actually good that they tasted good. That means you’ve got the flavor down. Now you just need to work on the texture. By the end of it you’ll have an awesome recipe and a new skill.

Trying to peel a soft-boiled egg is a bitch. Got this tip from a trained chef that cooks for others: You don’t need vinegar in the water, just some salt. Rolling boil, and make a small pinhole with a thin clean pin in the round end of the egg. Only enough to break the shell, do not poke the pin deep into the egg. Lower eggs into boiling water gently. Boil for 8-9 minutes if you want an egg where the white is settled and the yolk is moist, not runny.
The pin prick on the egg’s round end will let out the gases in the egg preventing your egg from exploding, and will make peeling an absolute breeze compared to non-pricked egg shells.

It takes skill to make them this much of a mess, but I’m glad they still tasted good 🤣😭

As long as you cooked it right that part of the egg tastes good no matter what on or where you put it in.

good job! I love deviled eggs, I cook them a little longer so they don’t break so easily in my hands. my best time so far is 10 minutes from start to end, I put them in the water before it starts boiling so i dont have to worry about them cracking

I agree 100% with another commenter who said that it’s good that you have the flavor already figured out mostly so you really just need to work on the texture. I’ll add that you gotta work on technique and that’s usually just a trial and error thing. My grandma used to say that was the best part of cooking, you get to eat your mistakes! That’s wasn’t always true (how did I burn one side and undercooked the other side of a *grilled cheese*?!) but when it was edible it was pretty cool! I’m not the kind of person who says nice things about myself but I gotta say I’m a pretty good cook! My husband used to get asked what restaurant he got his lunch from and he would always say “My wife made this!” and believe me that took time and a lot of burnt/undercooked/what the f**k happened to my potatoes mistakes. Now my MIL has me over to help make holiday meals, my desserts are requested by everyone and my chicken parmigiana is my nieces favorite meal (I make it for her birthday every year now for almost 5 years).
You’ll get there, I promise. Remember you’re still learning so be nice to yourself. My therapist gave me a great tip, talk to yourself like you would your best friend. Would you put down your friend or support them? Would you say “ew you didn’t boil and peel the eggs perfectly, stop cooking” or would you say “I think you did great for a first try! Let’s find some tips on peeling eggs!”?
I always had an issue with the eggs breaking when I tried to slowly put them in boiling water, not all but even one break would annoyed me. So I put my eggs in first, cover them with water and *then* I start the water heating up to boil. Once it’s boiling I time it. Once they’re boiled I pour out the hot water, run cold water over them for maybe 2 minutes then let them sit in cold water. Peel all the eggs first, then cut them in half long ways. Dump the yolk into a separate bowl and put the whites aside. Make your yolk mixture (I use mayo, ground mustard, white vinegar and a little salt) then spoon it into your egg whites. Now my hubs and I *love* the yolk mixture so much that I usually use a little more to fill the whites so I have 2 halves left over that I feed my dog if my husband hasn’t eaten them already lol! I also like to use smoked paprika sprinkled on top instead of regular paprika. Very yummy but always remember a little paprika goes a *long way*!

Was the egg alive and aggressive when you started to cut in in half? It looks like you took out all your anger on it lol.

Boil the water before putting eggs in pot over a medium-high heat. Lower eggs into pot gently using a spoon. Boil for 6-8 minutes on medium heat for a softer yolk. Drain hot water from pot. Run cold water over the eggs in the pot for a couple of minutes. When the eggs are still hot but cool enough to touch, crack the shell gently on a flat, solid surface, then roll it back and forth gently so that the entire shell is cracked all over. I like using a cutting board. Peel off the shell until you get the inner shell membrane. Place a finger under that membrane and the entire shell will peel off easily. If you get good at it, you peel it off in one piece.

How on earth??

Wtf lol, this hurts my southern heart. You gotta cook the eggs well done, like full boil for a full 8-10 mins, depending on size, this looks like the yolks were soft when you mixed them. Also, make sure to add your wet ingredients a little at a time, the finished texture should be fluffy and a bit airy, so if you piped them, they would hold their shape. Glad they at least tasted okay because they look wrong as fuck lol, that means you ony need to work on the texture and you have the spices figured out!

Thats $8 worth of eggs

Put eggs in water and set to boil. Once it hits a rapid boil, set timer for 10 mins. When done, pour off hot water and cool down with cold water. Lay paper towel out on counter. Hit egg both top and bottoms ends on the counter then roll the egg. Most of the time they shell nicely with this method. Older eggs are better for boiling for this reason because they already shrunk a little.
If your egg floats- toss it

Why is everyone acting like it’s the peeling that’s the problem and not the wet goo that’s slopped over top?

I am the WORST at boiling eggs…I could never get the shell off without brutalizing the egg. I bought a little machine off Amazon that steams the eggs…game changer!
