Kindly gifted by Joachim when I visited him last year, tasting the 23s. Which by the way, I can highly recommend. A little fresher and more elegant than the 22s.

This was the first vintage (2017) he made – and people in the know will know that his style has changed since then. Whole cluster, less sulphur etc.. anyway.

Smells of cherry, cranberry and dried roses. Smoky, sandalwood, small hint of truffle/mushroom.

The wine is more fruity on the palette than on the nose. Nice tannic structure that gives enough body. Tannins are soft and well integrated.

What’s interesting about this wine is that both the nose and palette show softness throughout. Almost like Joachim didn’t want to work the wine too much. This is a really well made wine. But to me, a a much more special experience.

And no that’s not one of those stemless glasses. It’s simply a glass with a broken stem.
