Man I loved his talking tour when he was in his prime. Still sooooooo bummed I missed my chance to catch him live.
Even made a Kwanzaa Cake once, just for shits & giggles.

In this era, you have the power to message people. Don’t leave people wondering where you are.

The Bear anyone?

just got a new job and have consistently shown up at least 5 minutes early for training/orientation shifts, worked two shifts so far and asked managers and peers how they thought I was doing, the consensus answer was “you show up on time ready to work, you’re way ahead of some other people we’ve tried”
Tits_McgeeD
I mean 5-10 mins late is also fine imo. As long as you are showing up everyday its what counts. Not calling in sick, not being too hungover to work.
Youre a little late? Fine get straight to work
You miss the occasional day or busy shift? You’re putting us all on the spot to cover for you absence.

Unpopular opinion but he actually worked quite hard to keep kitchen workers down…
– Vocally campaigned against kitchen workers getting a share of tips – rants like this where he’s advocating firing people on the whim for being late or other menial events – always pushing the idea of it being a ‘nobal’ profession where you dont or shouldn’t require any thanks or appreciation.
I have very mixed feelings about the man, on one hand I cried when I watched the film about him and watched everything he ever made on the other I think he’s a self serving prick who actually cares very little for the people he pretends to.

Not from the USA I don’t know this guy but one thing is certain after his speech he gets my apron in the head and never sees me again the guy is toxic as hell. Being punctual at work is normal, except that as a boss he probably manages his schedule like everyone else, and demanding from an employee what you don’t do yourself is despicable.

We used to have to be there at 7:00 a.m. The boss man would show at 9:00 or so and walk to the time clock to see what time everybody punched in. If you were late he would say “You know how to play baseball? That’s strike one.”

I dunno depends.
If I work till midnight and have to be back at 8-9 am they’re not particularly respecting me. Me coming 5-10 min late on a Sunday means I’m not taking the 6:30 am bus etc
I was always on time but as I got better and helped more people and didn’t take a break to make sure the junior staff had prep for service etc I realised fuck it I don’t have an exact finish time why an exact start time

He literally just explained work ethic to all you naysayers talking shit.
