Thanksgiving is only a week away, so here are some places to get a free Thanksgiving meal in the Athens area.

Chuck’s Fish

Chuck’s Fish Athens will host its third annual Thanksgiving Feast from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, which is Thursday, Nov. 28. The meal will be free for anyone who wants to attend, and any monetary donations will benefit Project Safe. Chuck’s Fish is partnering with FIVE Athens and American Lunch for this event.

Weaver D’s

On Thanksgiving Day, Weaver D’s Delicious Fine Foods will host its third annual Feed the Hungry Thanksgiving Day Dinner. Lady B of Radio Station WYZI 95.9 FM will be the Mistress of the Ceremony and singers Jennifer Browning and Gilda Smith will be performing. The concert will begin at noon and food will begin being served at 2 p.m. All are invited to attend.

Sheats Social Services

Sheats Social Services is partnering with The Sparrow’s Nest to host a free Thanksgiving dinner for anyone in the Athens community on Wednesday, Nov. 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The dinner will be held at The Sparrow’s Nest, and attendees will have access to as much food as they need, free hygiene products and health screenings..Hygiene product donations and donations of hams and turkeys will be accepted via dropoff at the Athens-Clarke County Library and Bethel Baptist Church in Watkinsville, and can also be arranged online through the Sheats Social Services website.

Athens First United Methodist Church

The Athens First United Methodist Church, located on North Lumpkin Street, will host its Thanksgiving Ingathering for the Athens community. On Monday, Nov. 25 from 5 to 6:30 p.m., those in need of a free Thanksgiving meal are invited to dine at the church and enjoy an evening of community gathering.

Athens Real Estate and Downtown Ministries

Athens Real Estate Group and Downtown Ministries are hosting a Thanksgiving food drive up until Thursday, Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome to participate, and more information about how and where to donate can be found at @athensrealestategroup on Instagram.

Food Bank of Northeast Georgia

Anyone in need of food this Thanksgiving can stop by a pantry or any of its mobile pantries, which can be found on the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia website here. Through the mobile pantry initiative, those in need of food assistance can go to a distribution center and load up their car with groceries. For every $1 that is donated, the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia is able to distribute three balanced meals to families in need.
