I'm fairly new to HF (a month in, 5 meals per week) and I've enjoyed every meal until tonight. The cuts of meat have been above average so far—trimmed well, good portions, etc—but this is my first experience with a chopped chicken packet. I wish I would've thought to take a pic before preparing, but it seemed like a giant glob of gelatinous scraps. I tried to salvage it by picking out unidentifiable lumps and rubbery parts, but I couldn't gag it down even after adding the seasoning and salsa. I'll be avoiding like the plaque with future orders. Not sure if I got a bad batch or if it's always like this???

I’ve had HF for several years, and they just recently started doing these “Prep n Bake” meals. This week, I got both the enchiladas and chicken pot pie. Yeah, the chicken looked weird when first pulling it out, but I think it’s just due to tight packaging/chicken juices. The Sous Vide thing is completely new (that I’ve ever seen), but it makes sense for these new, faster meals. I personally enjoyed both meals, but maybe I don’t have good taste, idk lol. My complaint would be I needed more meat for the enchiladas.

  2. The pre cut meats are always a disaster. It’s very strange

We had the same meal and thought the same thing!! What a disaster, so nasty. It’s my most hated meal for the last 4 years, which have otherwise been great.

Sous vide is a really delicious way of cooking. It stays flavorful and tender with no weird pieces. Give it a chance!

Thought the same when opening the packet, but ended up perfectly fine after cooking it.

The prep and bake chicken meals seem to all have sous vide chicken. I will be avoiding it. Too gross, not good flavor, and it doesn’t really save time.

  7. I mean, that’s kind of what i would expect from sous vide.

  8. I questioned it a bit but the chicken was actually great in the easy prep enchilada dish. I’m making these meals when I’m really pressed for time but still want something ‘homemade’ for my kids. My 18 year old devoured the enchiladas and the easy prep rigatoni that I made a few weeks ago was also awesome. I was thrilled to be able to put these meals together so quickly.

I don’t do Hello Fresh anymore but when I did, I used my own chicken and cooked the “chopped chicken” for my dogs.

I like that chopped chicken. Cooks faster for tacos and tastes the same

Sou Vid things tend to look very gray just how they’ve been cooked. It’s normal. It’s because the food never makes direct contact with the heating element so it doesn’t get the color you typically see with other methods.
