First time mattapeño grower, are the leaves supposed to form into this wacky shape?
I’m not sure if this little guy is trying to tell me something lol. About 1 month old, I was thinking maybe the green parts of the leaf are growing faster than the white? I could be very wrong

Whoa, it looks like you have some variegation happening as well. It looks really cool, but I know sometimes it can be caused by a virus. Maybe look into viral variegation.

yeah, sometimes the mosaicism causes crinkles, if it keeps growing new shoots you might have some normal branches later, that was my experience

my variegated mattapeños look exactly like that and from what ive heard i believe its harmless. also / common for that breed

Yes, it is normal, as long as the white part is silky and not dry to the touch.
