Just thought I'd post a self deprecating first impression of my worst looking loaf to date. πŸ˜‚

Not too bad of a crumb though?

I should really invest in a dutch oven…

Recipe:
500g strong bread flour
375g H2O
100g 100% starter
10g salt

Autolyse
Coils
7hr bulk room temp 26Β°C
Overnight cold
Baked on a tray with steam

Best example of how bad baking technique impacts the final loaf!

Dutch ovens are amazing!!!!! Good for so many things

  4. Upper_Ad_1186

I call mine a β€œgill” when it happens.

  5. DonkeyBlonkey

Dutch Ovens are amazing but you can just buy a Lodge Combo Cooker which is also amazing.

  6. Just remember the cheapest raw cast iron Dutch oven will work as well as an enameled le cruset for baking bread!

  7. moogiecreamy

You made a gorgeous pan de cristal! Seriously though look at that open crumb 🀌

Try marketplace or the thrift! I got mine basically brand new for $20 that way

Dutch ovens are great and all HOWEVER i do not have one and i have found the method that works for my conventional oven that only has 3 levels and goes up to 230°C only which is a stainless steel bowl over the dough for 25mins and down to 210°C uncovered for 20mins more. 🀌🀌

Hey you got beautiful crispy blisters all over and a great crumb! This is a perfect bread for many occasions, e.g. when you need to neatly put a slice of prosciutto over it! A leaf a of basil and you got $15 appetizer from a fancy Italian restaurant!

You didn’t mention if you preheated you baking dish with the oven! If you happen to have a pizza stone, you can use it as well, just preheat it with the oven and a baking sheet on top and when you are ready to bake, just place the loaf onto preheated baking sheet and on top of the stone!

I scored a Martha Stewart DO that rocks. Buy used off marketplace

  12. Love the sense of humor and the crumb looks awesome! Not sure if you have a Kroger where you are but I got a DO at one for like $20, good to 500Β° and it’s a perfect size for sourdough boules

*Cue jokes about that being a perfectly fine sized ear

  14. sujomgmtofficial

Yes not much of an ear. Need to score deeply and concisely.

This had me cackling. At first I was like β€œwhat am I looking at here?”, then I swiped to the second photo and laughed out loud πŸ˜‚
