I was at a cook out at my friend’s house making some burgers about an hour ago when the grill exploded..? I was about a foot away from it, it was closed when all of a sudden my ears were ringing and I was engulfed in flames and my knee was in a lot of pain.. turns out the thing just went off like a bomb?? My clothes were singed and I have 1st degree burns all over my back from the flames, and the pain in my knee was from a piece of the grill becoming shrapnel and smashing into my knee (nothing is broken just hurts like hell and bleeding). Does anyone know wtf could’ve happened here?

P.s. that hole in the trash can is from the blast, also apparently a piece of shrapnel got sent into a tree branch, breaking it loose

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!

If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!

    *What seasoning did you use?

*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?

*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?

    Traeger on!

The only time I have seen that sort of thing from a pellet grill is a smoke explosion. Very heavy smoke, which is partially burned fuel, igniting quickly in a closed space.

Usually this happens when a grill has lost flame and continues to feed pellets into the burn pot. The next time the hot rod turns on it smokes a lot, more than normal, filling the cooking chamber with heavy smoke. When the pellets do catch flame, it may cause an explosion.

Start your grill with the lid open.
