WILLI HAAG
2008
Haunberger luther
Riesling – Kathiner
Having some fun with a recent deep snow fall in my area. Bottle didn’t fit in my fridge and I didn’t have enough ice to put it in a bucket, so outside on the deck it goes for a few hours!
This wine was killer. It’s off dry, sweet with great acidity to balance. Something you’d expect from the mosel. Gorgeous mouth feel! Syrupy, tannins like velvet. Full of tropical fruit like pineapple and guava. Low ABV. After having a bunch of high alcohol, powerful wines this week (Bordeaux, Paso Robles Cabs, hermitage, etc.) this was like fruit juice and exceptionally refreshing.
(Apologies for shaky second photo)
Cheers!

I thought I was having a stroke on the second picture, but thankfully it was just blurry German words.
In 2016 I was in Sweden for New Year’s and grabbed a bottle of champagne from the store that was on the shelf. When I got to my hotel I opened the hotel window and shoved it in a snowbank on the hotel roof.
There ended up being great northern lights and I’m not actually sure I got it out of the snow bank…
The blur in the 2nd pic shows you’ve already had a few glasses 😉 cheers!
