Through all the Cote-Rotie posts that just keep on popping up in m feed I remembered a wine from Gangloff that I had a few months ago and was one of the best wines I had last year. I loaded up on a lot of his wines after that experience.
Gangloff Cote-Rotie La Barbarine 2018
Started amazingly intense in the nose with really concentrated black berries, sour cherry, olive, some pepper and meat.
Palate is long and balanced with refined silky tannins, spice and power. Really long.

Damn
Great wine!
One of my favorites! Gangloff is a genius winemaker and these are 100% worth tracking down.
I think he’s my favorite Côte-Rôtie producer… opened a 2012 a couple months ago and it was insane. I also have a Serine 2019 in the cellar I need to be patient for… thanks for sharing!
I’ve heard some say this wines are too oaked, similar to critiques of Guigal’s high-end wines. What are your thoughts on this?
